The international break has brought about yet more pointless, no-story, nonsense news. This time the media are surprisingly on the back of AVB and Spurs after they’ve been so understanding during the opening season period. The news that France captain Hugo Lloris joined Tottenham should have been met with excitement, one of the worlds best keepers at only 25 has joined the Premiership, rejoice. Instead of this the press have decided it’s not quite time to let Levy and AVB off the hook yet, Stories have been reported across the media that Lloris is unhappy, Spurs have wasted their money and that he will leave in January.
Of course this is all pure speculation, just about everyone has made their mind up that Friedel will be Spurs number one due to his impressive form, while this may well be the case the fact is Lloris hasn’t even been eligible to start a game for Spurs yet, he has spent little to no time training with the squad and has continuously denied the speculation, stating he would rather concentrate on the international fixtures. This should have been reported as such, “Hugo Lloris is a professional and wants to concentrate on playing not comment on mere speculation”, doesn’t entice the readers though. Instead utter toss is branded about, filled with wild assumptions as to how Lloris will behave when he returns from international duty.
Didier Deschamps has been quoted, or misquoted in the past week seemingly launching attacks at Spurs and AVB, in reality though what international manager would risk upsetting the club of his captain before he had even had a chance to play. Deschamps comments regarding Lloris following his clean sheet on Friday appear to clear things up for any worried Spurs fans out there, “I will not create a problem before it happens, like you [the journalists], like to do it. I have other concerns. I hope that things will goes well for him there.” There you have it, even Didier agrees that the press have taken liberties with this story, expect it to get worse before it gets better however, there is still another week before AVB can start setting it strait.
